The press had a chance to stop him after he refused to take the question from CNN, but they failed. They should have all refused to ask another question until the CNN guy got his chance.

...And the occasion is a fight for a civil society.

This is not going to be a free and fair exchange of ideas. This is going to be a fight. If you have not absorbed that fact yet, you are already losing."

And speaking of Gawker and Thiel: we had a billionaire spoiled brat that did not like what the tacky, new-media, gossipy rag had to say about him and his sexuality -no matter it was TRUE- so he auditioned willing legal patsies until he found a sympathetic plaintiff in a washed-up "wrestler" who was filmed carrying on an illicit affair with a friend's wife, and then bankrolled the "wrestler" in his legal, sucker-punch attempt to take down said gossipy rag. A jury of white-trash cretins provided the final punch, and said gossipy rag was forced out of business for daring to cross the billionaire brat, who incidentally joined the Orange Anus' Cabinet. Miss anything?

I WILL NOT be calling him "President-Elect," or "President." I will not honor or validate that title being conferred on him, enabled by intrusion of one of our most serious and devious enemies, against the wishes of a large majority of American voters.

The closest point to which I can bring myself is - So-Called President, and pResident. Or maybe I'll just omit the small "p" in "pResident" and call him what he truthfully will be: a (part-time) resident of OUR White House.

And Micheal Moore hit right on the head last night, when he said that this man was brilliant and got away with what he did to Jim Acosta-------------------and the media elites are failing in there job description, and have done so for a very long time with this narcissistic fraud, and what they are suppose to do for the people of this country-----------------give us unbiased reporting, and call the person out as a liar, when given that chance

it has not been about the free and fair exchange of ideas for the last 50 plus years. It has always been fight. A fight for total control to impose their will on the country. Far too many have labored under the false idea that we've been having a debate instead of a fight.

I remember seeing a quick interview clip that one of the reporters did with a republi-CON woman, someone in Congress I think. This was quite a while ago. Maybe as far back as bush/cheney. I forget who was being interviewed. But she had a three-word answer for why it could be that the GOP was as successful as it was at that time. She asserted: "because WEEE FIGHT." Her emphasis on the first-person-plural pronoun. "WEEE FIGHT."

I remember at the time, being unimpressed and thinking - "yep, that's all you guys ever do: fight. Always fighting. Can't just make peace. Can't just get along. Can't stop stirring shit up. Can't find some common ground. Can't figure out how we can all win because it's always gotta be YOU winning. Always with the fighting." But that's IT. Yep. They're always fighting. ALWAYS gotta fight.

We don't. And maybe we should reconsider that. We didn't have the drop-everything lockstep loyalty on our side that we saw across the aisle. They hang together. THEM or nothing. THEIR way or no way. If that's what backbone means, dammit, I want some! I want to see that on OUR side!

We peasants will have no problem avoiding kissing the hem of his royal robes. We simply have to determine and employ other forms of non cooperation and encourage others to do the same.

I imagine Thiel is trying to figure out how to shut Buzz Feed down now that Gawker is gone. Eventually people who leak documents and post embarrassing crap about Trump online are going to have to make extensive use of Tor.

(Note: reposted from another thread that died last night.)

And if we let them destroy all that the New Deal--and later programs like Medicaid and Medicare--have wrought, we and our loved ones will rue the day. There will be suffering and death the likes of which this country hasn't seen in a century or more.

Trump's cabinet fully intends to roll back social programs to circa 1890; i.e., there won't be any. Nada. Zero. Zilch.

I have often warned on this board that revolution is coming.

Now that revolution--or more properly, reactionary counter-revolution--has occurred: a James Comey/Putin/mass-media enabled fait accompli from the right. The fascists have taken power.

God help us all.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
