No surprise that a bill which would cut into their profits would have this type of vote spread.

My bills: $40K per round of conventional chemo that's been around for 2 decades. I needed 12 rounds and that was my "provider charge." The head of my state Dept. of Soc. Services told me to ignore that and look at the "allowed charge." That was $20K-23K per round (for exactly the same treatment every two wks)---don't even ask about the difference of a few thousand$$$. It's all fantasy numbers.

Multiply by 12 rounds, my chemo cost was ---on paper---about $250K. But...I was told by some billing experts and a social worker that the providers negotiate prices with insurance cos. and the US gov., so the prices you see on your bills are BOGUS and have nothing to do with REALITY.

from research done by the National Institute of Health. In other words, the U.S. taxpayers invest in research conducted by the NIH and the drug companies turn around and charge those "investors" a higher price than they do any other customer in the world. Insanity.

when it comes to elected officials. You can trust them only in one thing: they will do the bidding of whomever has paid them the most in contributions. I used to think Democrats were better than this, but they most assuredly are not. Which is why I always scoff at the adulation of politicians, no matter what side they are on.

Some, of course, are better than others. Booker may just be an opportunist. And maybe that can be useful; we can probably work with that. We just have to watch them like hawks.

"Between 2010 and 2016, a handful of the Democratic senators who voted “nay” were amongst the top Senate recipients funded by pharmaceutical companies: Sen. Booker received $267,338; Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) received $254,649; Robert Casey (D-PA) received $250,730; Michael Bennet (D-CO) received $222,000. As the former mayor of Newark, Cory Booker faced corruption scandals and increased crime and unemployment levels as his star power outside the state rose. He is heavily favored by Wall Street, with securities and investment firms donating $1.88 million to Booker during the 2014 midterm elections; their second-favorite candidate was Mitch McConnell."

Casey (D-PA) tough race

Donnelly (D-IN) probaly toast

Heinrich (D-NM) probably only loses if termed-out Susan Martinez runs against him, and that is still perhaps not enough

Heitkamp (D-ND) toast

Menendez (D-NJ) depends on his federal corruption trial, I think if he is convicted we can still hold the seat

Tester (D-MT) extremely tough race, although Trump reallllly pissed off Mitch McTurtle and all the Rethug establishment by picking their choice, Ryan Zinke (the current Montana single member of the House), for Sec. of Interior. Removing Zinke as his opponent so helped Tester's chances. It is probably the single most contentious and provocative act Trump has done against the GOPeee boss goons so far.
