Last week, the Associated Press reported that Linda Bean, a longtime Republican activist and granddaughter of Leon Leonwood Bean, contributed $60,000 to the Making America Great Again LLC. According to the Federal Election Commission, the donation exceeded the PAC’s contribution limit.

Maybe she likes being grabbed by the pussy by a serial sexual assaulter.

If they don't shut her down, then we, the people need to shut them down. She's being accused of illegal campaign donations.

I agree that this is in extremely bad taste, but what else did you expect from someone who favors "Liberace on LSD" as his theme for interior decorating?

He can hold up a can of Campbell's Soup and say how delicious it is, and that's his right.

Starting January 20 it gets more complex.

I am not an L. L. Bean junkie, but I do own some of their stuff. A lot of it is made in the U.S. The catalog will tell you when an item is imported.

Even when something of theirs is made in the U.S., it might have been made by a subcontractor. Years ago, driving across northern Pennsylvania, I stopped off at the town of Woolrich. Yep, there really is one. A clothing manufacturer was located there at the time. Maybe it still is. They made Baxter State Park anoraks for L. L. Bean. There might have been several outfits making clothes under contract for L. L. Bean. They also made Woolrich mountain parkas. The difference was in the logo on the buttons and elsewhere.

The L. L. Bean logo on jackets is embroidered. If you try to remove it, the removal will leave a mark. What you can do if you wear L. L. Bean stuff is to cover the logo with duct tape or electrical tape. That will send a message loud and clear.

Or you can give it to a thrift store.

Up to you.

No matter how old it is.

I am bummed about this person. I'll have to look up her family history. My parents were friends of the Beans back in the 60s, Judy Bean was my baby sitter for a year or so, she was fun... I don't remember most of the baby sitters.

Anyway, I have a cache of their stuff and will be sending much of it back, anything I keep because I need it and it's essential*, I will sew a patch indicating my protest over the logo.

*I live in an extreme environment and some of my outer wear can't be easily replaced in the dead of winter.

Almost all my LLB stuff came from thrift stores and yard sales, so LLB has made hardly anything from me. I have no experience with returning items to them. I doubt they would give you your money back. At best, they would replace the item. If you sent it back with instructions to keep it, they would probably give it to a local charity.

Yes, winter is a tough time to get rid of outerwear.

asking for a refund, though that's an idea I might consider. Even if it came from a thrift store, if it has their logo, do it. The more used stuff they have piling up in their receiving area, the more they will see how much we disapprove.

The POTUS benefitted when this business owner contributed $60,000 to a political action committee supporting Trump. He has a conflict of interest when he returns the favor, and in a blatant example of quid pro quo, throws his weight behind a recommendation urging his supporters to buy the merchandise of one of his donors which will benefit her company's sales.
