Two teen lacrosse players charged with animal cruelty after investigators say they slit the throat of a guinea pig and bashed it with a bat before a match last year have been sentenced to probation.

Tanner Coolsaet, 19, and Michael Roth, 18, both who were Grosse Ile High School students, pleaded guilty to torturing or killing an animal and conspiracy to kill or torture an animal.

In exchange for their pleas, they avoided jail time and will serve two years and three years of probation, respectively. If they comply with the terms of their probation, the felony convictions will not appear on their permanent records, as part of the Holmes Youthful Training Act, a sentencing device reserved for people between 17 and 24 who have no prior criminal record.
....

The Detroit News reported, based on testimony, the guinea pig was placed on a table with members of the lacrosse team on either side. ... One group wanted to spare the life of the rodent and common household pet. The other wanted it sacrificed to bring luck to the lacrosse team in its upcoming match.

There's no excuse, will never be, no matter how many people excuse them, for sadistic tormenting, torturing abuse of any living creature.

This is something these scumballs will never outgrow.

future games. Those two sound like future serial killers to me.

And now they basically skate. No, dammit! This only serves to perpetuate the perceived privilege student athletes have. Enough!

many serial killers got their start by torturing and/or killing animals.
I hope they lost their fucking game, and someone needs to keep an eye on these two miscreants.

Young Republicans organization.

That's where these twisted little monsters find a home.

My kids would never harm and animal, but you can bet if they did, charges would be the least of their problems.
