(81,323 posts)Can't get around feeling so sad - for what we're about to lose. As of this writing, in a week and a day. We'll be changing strong, steadfast, compassionate, brilliant, and selfless public servants for a thin-skinned, petty, sexist, bigoted, vengeful, and spectacularly ignorant liar/hypocrite/sociopath and his sidekick, the albino religious fanatic.
Fabulous.
God! I miss Obama/Biden already! I'll be 64 this year. I can remember quite a few of the presidencies that I've lived through. This one is the classiest and best in my memory. And scandal-free, to boot! We already know that scandal-free part is NOT going to be the way we'll see things play out over the next four years.

(20,219 posts)I can barely even approach it.
All I can manage is reading you guys here to kind of process for me. (Sorry to be a hoser. Lol...)
I just turned 59 in December.
I guess that means something. I dunno.

(81,323 posts)I don't know what makes me sadder - seeing the absolutely STERLING Obama/Biden team step away from power and into the history books, or seeing the almost staggering, versatile, brilliant, experienced, compassionate, supremely well-informed, and super-prepared one-woman talent pool whose many gifts and talents in the public service arena we will now be DENIED. Because Hillary was, let's just say it, CHEATED out of the job. This is another stolen election. But this time, it was stolen by the rovians. This time it was much bigger and far murkier: Vladimir Putin and his operatives.

(10,098 posts)I know, me too. Contrast President Obama's farewell address with whatever the hell that thing was that was identified as a press conference. We go from a man that overcame so many obstacles to achieve the American dream to this tiny, vile ogre.
Peace

(272 posts)who voted for an orange shit-flinging baboon to replace these two dignified and reasoned men. The juxtaposition between this video and yesterday's embarrassing craptacular is beyond striking. How long before President Caligula awards the Medal of Freedom to himself?

(81,323 posts)Such a beautiful event, for two spectacular and towering leaders, brilliant, compassionate, well-informed, devoted, salt-of-the-earth gentlemen of the first order. THIS is true class. THEY are true class. All the money and all the branding and all the fancy-ass real estate deals and all the golden towers (OR golden showers) in the world can't buy you class.

Not this time. I savored every second of those 37 minutes, and wish I could freeze time in an endless replay loop.
The tears I have been too numb to shed since the travesty of the election (and I don't even want to call it that) are flowing freely down my cheeks as I type this. Such decent people.
