After watching Biden's surprise ---

I watched the extraordinary and very moving ceremony wherein President Obama surprised Joe Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, marveling once more at the easy grace, humility, and dignity of these two men.

Then I tried to imagine something similar with Trump and Pence; how heartbreakingly sad that even the imagining is impossible.

with their success. The affection and high regard these two men have for each other was palpable. I could only think how tRump uses EVERY opportunity in front of a microphone to give accolades to himself. What happened today between President Obama and VP Biden would be unthinkable in a similar situation with tRump and Pence.

And Biden was truly surprised, shocked, and emotional. I'm so glad he and Obama were special friends working together to make the country better. They both, and their families still have many years to give service to the country in a more private way. Both fine gentlemen, such grand examples to all Americans and the world.

The next few years are going to be cringe-worthy every day.
