WASHINGTON (AFP) -
Blood was spilled Monday at the White House, but the culprit's politics were not to blame: the Obamas' dog Sunny bit a teenaged guest of the family, leaving a gash above her cheekbone, TMZ reported on Thursday.
The 18-year-old girl, whose name has not been released, was trying to pet the animal, a female Portuguese water dog, when it bit her, according to the TMZ website, which specializes in celebrity news.
The president's physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, deemed it necessary to close the wound with a few stitches.
The young victim posted photos of her bleeding face on social networks. She is expected to be left with a slight scar, which TMZ said upset her -- though it will give her a good story to tell for years.
The Obamas have two Portuguese water dogs, a breed generally known for its peaceful ways.

(297,323 posts)Terrier after her other one passed on.. she tried to kiss its little face like she always did her first one.. and she got bitten too.
The dog wasn't use to her yet because now there's no problem.
I bet the Obamas feel awful about it too.

(15,222 posts)Sorry, but I'm on the side of the dog by nature. I don't want the young girl hurt, but I don't want the dog punished for being a dog either. The Obamas' dogs are well trained, I'm sure, current on vaccinations, etc. They would have to be because they are constantly around the public.
I'm sure the ambulance chasers will be calling the young lady. I hope this doesn't escalate to more than it is.

especially if eye contact was made
I feel bad for the dog, the girl probably does not have dogs of her own
