I wish everyone well - I won't put my own health at risk by following what Drumpf does - and don't have the confidence in the "loyal opposition" to do anything about it.
God help us all.

(34,136 posts)But I'm not going to watch. I'm watching the Braindead series which is waiting on my DVR. If I finish and there is still crap on, I have plenty of other DVR's programs to watch.

(34,136 posts)My husband and I were Nielson raters a few years ago and it is really low tech. The family gets one booklet for each TV in the house and the viewers manually enter what they are watching in each 15 minute period. I had a problem with that since I am a channel surfer.l My usual thing is to have two different shows to watch at the same time and bounce back and forth between them to avoid the commercials. Their stupid booklets have no way to indicate that kind of viewing.
A couple of decades ago I was a Nielson Net rater- they were monitoring internet usage. For that, they had a program that I installed on my computer that kept track of how much time I spent on the internet and which sites I visited. I got paid a $50 US Savings Bond per quarter for doing it. It was fine until they changed their program and it started interfering with my computer usage - I bailed on them.
The year or so I was rating for them, internet usage among women in my age group increased by a significant percentage according to their ratings. It helped that I was recovering from a shoulder injury and the operation to fix it for a good part of that year and computer usage and reading were my main diversions.
Unfortunately they don't pay for the TV ratings.

(14,919 posts)even if the network itself doesn't. A few years ago I was getting ready to ditch cable because I felt it was too expensive. I called my cable provider, and they made me a counter-offer of a lower priced, pared down package. They knew which stations I watched and didn't watch...the package included MSNBC but not Fox, for instance. I found it rather creepy.
