God is he horrible beyond words. There is very little unifying about him or his herd to pull this country together.

(3,580 posts)Provoke that sort of response, they create the drama & then stand back to watch the chaos. It's a bottemless pit of a vortex that sucks you into soul draining havoc & it's never enough.

This will probably sound melodramatic - so be it. In a thread a day or two ago, I said that last time I remember feeling this much dread about the future was in 1978, when my 23 year old brother (and only sibling) died in a scuba diving accident. I kept saying to myself, "This can't be happening. This can't be happening. THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING."

(4,609 posts)many presidential election cycles (Truman was President when I was born). This campaign and election are absolutely unprecedented and historical (in a HORRIBLE way) of all that I have seen and participated in. The Transition is equally unprecedented and disturbing, as I suspect the Inauguration will be, and God help us, the actual Presidency. We are in dangerous and uncharted waters and I fear the worst.

(27,813 posts)Of course, since I refer to DT and MT as Boris and Natasha, maybe I should stick to the 60s TV motif and call it KAOS.

(13,390 posts)I had some anxiety that actually didn't even feel all that justified as we crept towards the inauguration because he was quite and in retrospect with current comparison dignified as a president elect. That was troubling because given what had happened with SCOTUS it felt like I should feel much worse. But this is way different. As one friend put it, "if you're not absolutely terrified, you aren't paying attention."

(67,111 posts)Phew, what's going to happen when the orange ass gets into an argument with NK in the middle of this night or whatever. The guy really needs a straight jacket. And the thousands and thousands protesting in D.C. his inauguration. He's clueless, absolutely clueless.
