Amazon plans to add more than 100,000 full-time jobs in the U.S. by mid 2018, CEO Jeff Bezos said.
Most of the jobs will be in fulfillment centers, while there will be jobs added in Seattle, Bezos said in a statement Thursday morning.
Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) said it has 40,000 employees at corporate offices and fulfillment centers in Washington state. Once the company completes its expansion of its Seattle headquarters, Amazon will have more than 30 buildings covering over 10 million square feet in the citys downtown core, the company said.
Amazon said it plans to increase its full-time U.S. workforce to more than 280,000 by mid-2018 from 180,000 in 2016.
