On Thursday night, MSNBCs signal abruptly froze during a broadcast of Hardball with Chris Matthews and repeated the word Russia over and over.
As Mediaite.com reported, the broadcast froze just as Washington Post columnist David Ignatius was saying the word Russia, which was repeated over and over during the freeze.
On Thursday, C-SPANs broadcast of proceedings in the U.S. House of Representatives got bumped off the air during an anti-Trump speech by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). C-SPANs signal was replaced by approximately 10 minutes of programming from Russia Today, the English language cable network owned by the Russian government.
C-SPAN blamed an internal routing error for the glitch in an afternoon statement.
Mediaite also said that on Thursday, (T)he lights mysteriously went out during the confirmation hearing for Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) while he was being vetted by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

(57,489 posts)I have not looked at the link, but I heard the digital annunciator in the DC Metro's new 7000-series cars experience a seizure a year ago, when the cars were just coming into service. Digital TV can do weird things too.
I guess the buffer was trying to fill in for missing information the best it could.

(55,894 posts)Cause this is odd after the CSPAN hacks yesterday.
And forgive me if my question comes across as not well informed. I am not tech savvy at all and don't know proper jargon.
Here's the embed if you want to see it. It's at about 48

(57,489 posts)I don't see any conspiracy here.
Non-technical term: glitch.
Either that, or I'm on their payroll too.

(2,795 posts)You can bet anyone who supported Trump is cheering on this hacking and interference. Because it's happening to their opposing team. But if this just gets ignored or brushed aside, when will Russia start doing cyber terrorism more wide spread? Interfering with electrical grids, internet service, even the function of our emergency services and responders.
Imbed into our systems deep enough that they can blackmail certain entities just like they're most likely blackmailing Trump.
Trump has opened the door to Russia. This some very disturbing shit.

(58,785 posts)are not going to be happy, no matter what they say or don't.
Generally speaking, conservatives don't handle uncertainty as calmly as liberals, much less threat. That we are comfortable with the relative disorder required by a free and diverse population is one of their big problems with us. Which reminds me, of course they'll blame us for this.

(15,805 posts)when that happened. The screen went black and silent, then the broadcast resumed with no comment. And that "no comment" was also weird.

(13,426 posts)The coincidence is very disturbing. If the two events are somehow related, it certainly opens the door to what else might have been manipulated.

(11,119 posts)Last night - the hackers are just messing with us, now!
Maybe it's our centralized electrical power grid - it's a weakness, you know...
