It feels like something REALLY BIG is happening.
I will go nuts if we lose this site again while the shit is hitting the fan!

(14,627 posts)I was on DU when it happened. That creepy video had an Eastern European vibe, though some people on DU seemed to think it was American Trump supporters. I don't know if any of them are smart enough to pull off such an attack.

(90,714 posts)I begin to think what happened to us was practice of a sort from overseas; we continue to be trolled.

(46,735 posts)Maybe it's time for a mirrored site? Maybe the blogosphere can begin to look after each other's back and provide a venue for DUers if the website gets attacked?

(86,646 posts)one of my sisters called me earlier today to tell me how her phone is suddenly bringing up contact phone#s from eight years ago and her FB acct is acting weird. She was also planning to go to DC for the protests with her daughters but in light of news that violence is more likely than not from the likes of OKeefe and others, they decided they'd not get in the middle of that. This is wise since we are also facing the prospect of not having access to medical care after being injured in that mess. Glad they decided against it.
We were both hacked in that Office of Personnel Management hacking in 2015.
not sure I am glad to hear that intimidation tactics to reduce protests of imminent fascism are working

(86,646 posts)but I agree with her arguments of what ifs that need to be contemplated such as...
What if:
the disruptors block the subways making it impossible to get to the protest location?
the disruptors start a riot and shit gets ugly fast and then they can't go back home because martial law or something?
They are all professionals and would be taking all the time they can afford to go there for a peaceful event that could take weeks to get out of if they are thrown in jail for rioting even if they weren't.
I was in DC during some ugly protests during Nixon and I would not want them to see that, because I half expect some kind of ugly of that type. Billy clubs and rubber bullets break teeth and bones, tear gas can blow your arm off, as happened to that girl at Standing Rock recently (some of my acquaintances were there for that and witnessed it).
And I also see whatever happens on 1/20 will set the tone/be a precursor to what lies ahead for we the little people. I can smell it like the stench of a dead cow from way over here in Montana.

(86,646 posts)to watch without a way to do anything... I'm old and poor and, thankfully, in a very rural place where going to a big city is a 100 mile, one way drive. I can see whomever comes up the drive long before they get here.
