The boldness of the GOP should wake people up. Or maybe not. But this election should show all of us that the GOP will end up being the only party on the ballot. Even an idiot can see that this election was totally rigged and stolen. There is evidence all over the damned place. And with the help of the MSM they have been empowered.
I have little faith in 2018 because by then the GOP will have pretty much had the vote so rigged they cannot lose power. They only continue to gain power and Democrats end up with fewer and fewer seats. We are headed for an effectively one party state where ONLY THEY will pass all the laws.
And if you kick back you will be suppressed and pursued by the GOP and its security allies. We are moving to a nation of one party dictatorship.
I believe that is why the GOP is so bold. They seem themselves as politically bulletproof in that they now have almost full control of the election process and they have almost ALL of the billionaires and millionaires behind them.

(100,080 posts)40 years of the republicans being brainwashed by Reagan, AM hate radio, and Fox News, has created an America that is so one sided that they would rather the other side (us) simply didn't exist. It's frightening what is happening to this country. You can see that happening the way they've been absolutely dismantling and destroying the press since Bush I. These people are absolute monsters, and I am afraid that it will come to a civil war before it gets settled, and unlike the last one, this one won't have a positive outcome.

(10,495 posts)They own all of the Republicans outright and may of the Democrats. The Democrats are somewhat held in check by us so they went with the Republicans to make the final push of their 30-40 year plan of having total control over our government.
They (U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Kochs and others) have been spending lots of money in every state for many years and took over many statehouses, governorships, as well as most of the elected judiciary. They consolidated the media companies to 6 and control the message we hear to manipulate us into believing what they want and not knowing what they are up to. Under Trump they are taking direct control through the appointments of some of these plutocrats.
This is the end game now, but it is not too late! They will over-reach and hopefully we can get enough off of the couches to stand up for themselves and their country.

(10,602 posts)They have had time to rig elections due to public complacency. Most voters are just not plugged into the details of the situation. And the MSM is colluding with them at almost every turn. The MSM reports voter fraud like it is real and epidemic or it is just ignored.
Low voter turn out has worked because their loyal base always votes. They won with 25% of the vote which is their rabid base. There were not enough of the total voter population to offet all the rigging.

Having achieved full control over the legislative and executive branches of government, Hitler and his political allies embarked on a systematic suppression of the remaining political opposition. By the end of June, the other parties had been intimidated into disbanding. On July 14, 1933, Hitler's Nazi Party was declared the only legal political party in Germany.

(23,322 posts)I know it sounds crazy - but then again - look where we are. But, what if, just what if the reason the Urninator in Chief is appointing the worst of the worst to his cabinet at the instruction of Putin to ultimately destroy our government from the inside. To implode and unravel each department so profoundly that they can't be recovered. It seems that each of his appointees stand for the exact opposite of their future department's mission. It will be chaos. They're almost like paid bureaucratic assassins.
Then, when 20-30 million people lose their health insurance, many of them sick and or mentally ill...the powerless herd will get restless and be relatively easy to control with the promise of some sort of false security that will never come.
Again, I know this sounds just nuts. I can't believe the things I think sometimes.
Just venting.

(779 posts)But I like the first sentence.
"The boldness of the GOP should wake people up."
This horrible election is a wakeup call that good government does not just happen. Decent leaders are not just automatically elected. We must vote for them and advocate for them. Imagine if everyone on here joined a resistance group and attended protests!
If our side is led to believe that all elections are rigged beyond any ability to overcome, then they will be discouraged from voting, and it will become self-fulfilling prophecy.

(9,527 posts)As badly as Bush and the Republicans screwed up, and as powerful a position Democrats at the federal level had in 2008, there's really no way without a new party forming, for the Republicans to not regain power.
This is especially the case given that we have a geographically divided country. It makes it so that some Senate seats are effectively out of reach and it's easier to create gerrymandered House seats.
The two curve pattern matters because it means that the middle isn't the place with the most number of likely voters which would push the parties to the middle of the entire voting population. Instead we have two groups of partisans, and in general each party nominee is the one closest to the center of the party.
There is no evidence that the actual voting is rigged. Yes there is gerrymandering, but if enough people turn out to vote, then we will win. These claims that the sky is falling and that there will be no more free elections are just silly. Karl Rove was sure he was setting up Republicans to have a decades long grip on power, the media was saying the Republican party was at risk. The system is designed in a way that favors a two party system.

CrossCheck....how often is that discussed on MSM?. How quickly did the democrats say OK to computer voting?
They may have been playing even more serious hardball....the plane crash that killed Paul Wellstone was fairly suspicious, and at a time where his vote was key.
Hopefully now the democrats will awaken, the hour is late, we have to have iron resolve and be fierce about it.

TheMastersNemesis
(10,602 posts)We have donated thousands of dollars to our local candidates including walking precincts, going to fund raisers and participating in caucuses. In fact I often am able to talk to my local Congressman personally very often. We have supported candidates down to the country level and even walked for them. Except for two positions we lost we won all of our state legislative seats in our county except one.
