Do You Remember The Night Before Katrina Hit NOLA?

We were posting on DU as meteorologists were desperately trying to warn people to evacuate.

Going to sleep that night, I was heartbroken because there was no question so many people were going to effected so horribly.

That is how I've been feeling since Election Night.

And now we see Trump's Administration is filled with "Brownies".... wealthy people who are only out to enrich themselves with no competence for the jobs they hold.

Like a slow moving natural disaster is descending upon our country and the planet.

is being watched very carefully now, today, with a suspected cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) leak. She's a 27yo social worker student that works two jobs and has NO OTHER access to healthcare other than the ACA.

She has a CSF leak because she also has an extremely rare chronic condition called Bechet's disease that causes systemic inflammation and ulcers that can lead to all manner of things such as GI bleeds, blindness, aneurysms, blot clots leading to DVT's in the arms or legs, pulmonary embolism, stroke, heart attack and other complications including death.

SHE NEEDS HER ACA and she CANNOT WAIT 4+ years for somebody to try and bring it back for her. Without regular medical care and expensive medication, she could easily become disabled or die by then.

So NO. We won't be just "getting through it."

It must be bad enough to be concerned about her health right now--to have to think about insurance and what the future might bring just isn't fair.

The United States government should not be in the business of threatening and terrifying its citizens.

I wish you and your daughter the very best and I really hope everything goes well for her, today and always.

through right now. We WILL get through this, including your daughter. There is no reason she or you have to live with that fear, but what is the alternative at this point but to wait for the GOPers to do their dirty dance and eventually enact something that is very similar to ACA? Even some of the GOPer governors are asking for funds to consider expanding Medicaid. It took him a few years, and a slight change in the system, but even Pence finally expanded Medicaid.

I was going to let this go but it's been eating at me for days. How dare you?

We're supposed to feel better because of some shit about Mike Pence? Just NO.

You DON'T KNOW what we've gone through, you don't know what we're facing, and you sure as hell don't know what's going to happen with her health or her healthcare; so spare us the platitudes. It's condescending and most unwelcome.

I'm not going to hold this against you Hoyt. I mean that. But just don't ever . . . okay?

Peace.

Will NEVER forget.

Ended up in Donaldsonville, LA. My Cajun cousin and I along with several of his friends and our duck hunting boats headed for NO the day after Katrina where we spent three tough days pulling people out of attics, off roofs, and the like. Meanwhile, Brownie sat in a hotel room in Baton Rouge trying to decide which tie to wear to his press conference.

'New Russians' is a derogatory term for people who profit from corruption and shady business practices.

We're going to see the new generation of 'New Americans' who will take kleptocracy to new perverted levels.
