500,000 cows killed to jack up prices

In a price-fixing scheme, a dairy co-op killed 1/2 million cows to short the supply of raw milk and inflated the cost of a variety of dairy products - doubling the price in many cases - of things such as milk, cheese, yougart, 1/2 and 1/2, etc.

"If you live in one of 15 states and you buy milk, you could be entitled to some cash back. USA Today reports that some people who bought dairy products since 2003 are due refunds as part of a $52 million settlement spun out of the alleged mass slaughter of 500,000 cows. The class-action lawsuit filed in 2011 charged that Cooperatives Working Together paid its members—dairy farmers who produce 70% of the nation's milk—inflated prices for their dairy cows, which were then prematurely killed"

boughtmilk.com as referenced in the USA Today story and the claims will only generate $10 - $20 payment for those affected and filing (Down from the story listed numbers of up to $70.00).

At this point, hardly seems worth the effort.

100's of millions in a suit (printer ink, I think) and I got a $4 check. The money , of course, went to the lawyers.

yeah, those suckers make way more than $4 on their protected ink.

i remember about that time that there started to be generic carts available for epsons. after buying them a couple time, i went to a big box office supply and found a note on the empty shelves that said something about a decision of the wto. i walked out shaking my head, and went and got my own lube.
none provided.
