Amazing interview with Seth Abramson abobut his article on Huff Po stating the answers to what went on is in plain sight. Very cogent and logical examination and analysis. A

(28,340 posts)Thom Hartman is RT/Putin's beard, and he's not a very good one.

(28,943 posts)was straight from Putin's playbook. If Hartmann is propaganda for Russia he is terrible at it.

(24,135 posts)Nope not interested in hearing or watching Julian Assange, Glenn Greenwald the other regulars who trash the Democratic party and helped derail Hillary. Not interested in Thom Hartmann - Ed Schultz either.
Fuck them.

(61,695 posts)There were times when he critiqued her campaign for questionable moves, but he always supported her in the general election and told the Bernie or Bust people calling in that they were wrong and would end up with Trump if they voted for anyone but HRC.

(28,943 posts)Sure he was more for Sanders but he has had Sanders on his show for years. They see eye to eye. But when Hillary got the nom Thom pushed for her hard.
I am not sure why there is all this hate for Thom here.

(8,712 posts)Also his show will go around the world - influencing people. He was always censored on corporate news networks. It's sad for America that corporations run our news networks. What is your solution for our progressives that have to go to RT to not be censored? It's a big problem. It's the only place he can hold corporations accountable - it's a Catch-22.
Americas Lawyer Premiering on RT America One of the Last Sources for Real Investigative Journalism on TV Today
But one factor which gives Americas Lawyer the edge over its competition is its editorial freedom and ability to go after even the biggest corporation due to its location on RT America.
Americas Lawyer is set to join Thom Hartmann of The Big Picture, Ed Schultz of News With Ed, and Larry King of Larry King Now and Politicking on RT America, all of whom host successful progressive shows on the network.
RT America is part of a vast global news network which reaches audiences in every English-speaking nation in the world. Rather than being limited to American audiences, Americas Lawyer will broadcast across the globe, informing and educating viewers everywhere.
Americas Lawyer is expected to do well on RT America for one important reason: it has the journalistic freedom to reach out and grab any news story or controversy that it sees fit. Unlike corporate news networks, Americas Lawyer will not be censored by advertisers or told what to say and what not to say by a bought-and-paid for corporation.

(37,748 posts)"he has journalistic freedom on RT - unlike corporate news networks..."
Regardless of whether freedom is denied via the corporation or the government, it is still freedom denied. Skepticism of the one should not result in a complete absolution of the other. It does us well to apply our skepticism consistently and without allowing our own bias to interfere.
During the 2008 South Ossetia War, RT correspondent William Dunbar resigned after the network refused to let him report on Russian airstrikes of civilian targets, stating, "any issue where there is a Kremlin line, RT is sure to toe it."
Shaun Walker, the Moscow correspondent for The Independent, said that RT had "instructed reporters not to report from Georgian villages within South Ossetia that had been ethnically cleansed."
In 2014, RT Washington, D.C. bureau anchor Liz Wahl resigned on air, blaming RT for propaganda.
Sara Firth, a London-based correspondent with RT resigned in protest over the network's coverage of the MH17 disaster. Shortly before resigning, she tweeted, "RT style guide Rule 1: It is ALWAYS * Ukraine's fault

(90,708 posts)....of good journalists like Rachel Maddow on "corporate news." We have plenty to pick and choose from. The UK's Guardian gives us US news.
We should in no way be relying on Russian State broadcast news, owned and operated by Putin's lackeys and answering directly to Putin. We now KNOW Putin interfered in our election. We suspect that Russian talent helped bring down DU on Election Day, just for fun.
What the hell was that business with CSPAN suddenly being hijacked by RT -- a cosmic joke, or Putin taunting us? CSPAN is not "corporate" anything -- it's an open window for citizens to watch our elected representatives at work. And it was slammed shut for a bit while someone thumbed his nose at us and laughed.
Wake up, people.

But, Thom Hartmann is not someone I bother with. Once he started taking money from the Kremlin, he no longer interested me.

(3,975 posts)otherwise it is all gossip. I think he is magnificent. I have been a progressive as long as he has and I protested in Berkeley 1969. You guys are making a bogie man where there is none. Listen to him and judge for yourselves....not this gossip....maybe tell us how old YOU are, also.

(90,708 posts)"In bed with" is used in the political sense, as in "Politics makes strange bedfellows." If Hartmann and the other Americans are sincere, they can certainly do better than taking a paycheck from the outfit that destroyed Clinton's campaign and gave us Trump.

(24,736 posts)I think people either don't do their research or aren't open to challenging their preconceived notions. I find no legitimate support for the conspiracy theories here. Hartmann has been around for a long, long time and proven his chops.

(2,917 posts)Those progressive/liberals who are dissing him obviously have not listened to him. Their decision making process as to what is propaganda is severely flawed. Oh well, their loss.
