Got an email from my brother in law. He and my sister are rabid pro-Trump. He went off on a tangent about how 60% of the people work, supporting the 40% who don't, and Trump will put an end to that.
I shared my thoughts on Paul fucking Ryan, and his plans for the "safety net."
I also said "FUCK Trump" twice in my reply, and closed with "PS: FUCK Trump."
He replied:
Making America great again...one family at a time.

(26,266 posts)They are hard core RWNJs who learned, the hard way, that I can't be bullied. I was even dis-invited from my cousin's son's wedding, and I didn't care a bit. We are civil when we meet at family funerals, and that's about it. There is no other communication, at all.

(111,267 posts)Damn, it really is a cult with these people, they're incapable of thinking anything through because they're blinded by the sheer glory of their Beloved Leader.
Your brother and sister are making total mugs of themselves, but at least the brother is going to try to stay away from politics. If he succeeds, you'll have to repay him by not saying you told him so and he's getting the horror show he voted for.
If they can't stop ranting, you'll have to avoid them until the fever breaks and reality sets in.

(3,208 posts)I live in a community that went tRump but at least no one in my family supports him.
In that reply he did say "Let's stick to the funny stuff". There are already tons of comedians coming out with funny stuff about tRump. You can send him those!!!!

If there are Trump supporters nearby, they are keeping quiet about it.

(18,837 posts)...and I never engaged her in the conversation. She went in deep...yard signs, bumper stickers, posters on the wall in her house.
We have never been the kind of family that gets into deep discussions about politics.
She wouldn't listen if I said anything, and she really loves the idea of the wall that will never happen.

(38,316 posts)... our useless unemployed boys will be able to find work as coal miners and chimney sweeps. The girls will find work in the garment factories.
And air pollution will kill off our old and infirm people before they become a burden to the rest of us.
Make America Great, just as it once was!
People don't remember, but widespread poverty at one time affected our military readiness. That was one of the arguments for FDR's New Deal. The general health of young men in the U.S.A. was so abysmal that many were excluded from military service. It wasn't small stuff, it was serious disabilities and deformities that were a direct consequence of childhood malnutrition.
