Pete Souza's parting shot:

Source: CNN

As part of the social media transition of power, Souza's many photos documenting the Obama years have moved to an archived Instagram account @PeteSouza44.

So on Friday, he created a new personal account to document the final moments of the Obama presidency, as well as the first moments of his post-presidency.

Peter Souza captured so much as the White House photographer... humanity, compassion, humor, love, solemnity, competence, playfulness, grace, etc. I am sad to see him go, as well.

When you take the job seriously the weight of it must be large.

or is he leaving on his own volition or getting booted out I wonder?

But then I think this article answers my question - http://time.com/4637153/trump-inauguration-white-house-photographer/

I was leaning toward he wasn't going to have one for quite sometime (but we'll see). Transparency... pssh!

Also, I never knew this:

There’s a White House diary-keeper who records everything that’s the president is doing but that’s on paper,” says Eric Draper, who served under George W. Bush. “When you look at pictures, these frozen moments can tell stories, they can capture emotions and they can capture the mood.”

I wonder how well that will go over with the Trump administration, or if at all. The entries would be fun to speculate on...although, I don't think there would be much there!

he will have someone - but it will be a specific "someone" (or several "someones&quot who are able (in his opinion) to photograph him in the specific manner that he has traditionally dictated (i.e., only taking pics that are photo-op worthy and that only capture a certain side of his face, etc). He will probably pour through any photos by that person and discard any that he feels are completely unflattering (meaning most of them ).

I may be wrong (but probably not) but I expect very little will be discussed in the WH at all given his corrupt background and the fact that everything is recorded there (at least in certain rooms). Think Nixon and tapes.

NYC & Palm Beach, FL (along with the taxpayer) will be in for a huge bill as I expect he will spend most of his time there conniving outside of the recording of history. This will most certainly be the most opaque administration in the history of this nation.

Pete Souza did such a wonderful, amazing job---telling a story through his photographs.

It must be a bittersweet time for all of them. It's a very sad time for our country.
