I don't believe what they do but isn't the founder of their belief system supposed to be the complete antithesis of this evil poser? Why are they enabling him?

to say no. But the bishop who is as progressive as they come said they will stick to tradition.

I think they just want to get through it and go home.

If I hadn't lapsed into agnosticism I'd still be a member myself; I was in a cathedral choir for years. It is, however, respectful of tradition. Often that's a good thing, but I wish this time they'd told him to go find some fundamentalist outfit for his prayer service (which he obviously doesn't give a crap about anyhow).

They claimed he hadn't shown up for decades. Liberal Presbyterian Church that his parents attended but he lost touch with them but during the primary he claimed he was still a member.

but I personally know one Episcopal priest who broke away from the larger church to found his own congregation because he's opposed to gay marriage. I think he may also think all homosexuality is a sin, but I've never had an in-depth conversation with him.

Conservatives don't come in droves to worship there.

On Sundays their congregation are the same people every Sunday with some tourists. The only time you see the cathedral full is on Easter, Christmas, and summer.

Sorry but I know the woman and while I disagree with her choice she is a good person.

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Note that Christianity went nowhere until the conversion of Emperor Constantine.

It's incomprehensible theology and its emphasis on social, rather than spiritual issues, has caused the professional, managerial and intellectual classes to abandon it for either atheism or for the evangelical movements. So it really has lost its political relevance as well.
