We waited about an hour for the march to start. Delayed because of the unexpected crowd size, over 100,000. Based on Facebook signups, we thought that about 45,000 would show.
The march was amazing. So many people, waiting patiently to begin, chanting, talking, singing - so pumped up. Thousands of signs - far more than we expected. So many were clever, funny, and smart. Once the march started, we walked very slowly because of the crowd size. Took about 2 hours to walk 1.4 miles. Didn't matter. So many people having fun and clearly energizing each other.
Overall, an incredible experience. The task ahead - organizing and channeling this support into making a real legislative difference.

The light rail was packed - we all calmly waited in a patient, positive atmosphere through 3-4 trains before we could get on and head downtown.
I have had the weight of dread in my chest each day when I wake up. I was so happy to be DOING something - the most important part of democracy IS SHOWING UP!
IT WAS LOVELY!

(6,551 posts)We felt it was our responsibility to go. Things are immediately turning so dark and extreme. We had to take a stand at least by showing up. There are so many in our country who feel outraged and deeply concerned about what Trump and Congress will do. We all need to show up!

(1,124 posts)There had to have been over 200,000 people marching and people who could not march lining the parade route. Totally peaceful demonstration. My favorite sign today: "I can't believe I still have to march for this shit" carried by a woman who appeared to be older than me and I'm 60!
I'm so proud of Denver!
