Charles Blow: Our president is a pathological liar. Say it. Write it. Never become inured to it

Charles M. Blow
A Lie by Any Other Name

After Trump and his press secretary, Sean Spicer, got called out by the press for lying about Trump’s inauguration crowd size and viewership, Spicer limped back to the mic and whined of Trump’s press coverage: “The default narrative is always negative, and it’s demoralizing.”

No, sir, the default is to call a lie a lie; lies are negative because they are the opposite of the truth; and Trump continuously lies. Also, he who is devoid of morality is immune to demoralization. You can’t wring water from a rock. [...]

We all have to adjust to this unprecedented assault on the truth and stand ready to vigilantly defend against it, because without truth, what’s left? Our president is a pathological liar. Say it. Write it. Never become inured to it. And dispense with the terms of art to describe it. A lie by any other name portends the same.

Please refer Trumplickers to today's Wall Street Journal's front page chart, which clearly shows a large dip beginning on September 15, 2008 and plunging to a low point in March 2009 (shortly after President Obama took office) and then rising steadily from that point on.

IOW, it's a trend of almost 5 years, not something caused by Chump.

I apologize for not including a link; unfortunately, I don't know how to do that. I hope someone else can provide it.

Is the bond market.

Under Obama, the bond market also roared across the better part of eight years, until it began to appear that Trump might win.

Although the stock market is up a bit since November, the 30 year Treasury yield has risen by nearly one percentage point since September - which means that 30 Year Treasury PRICE has fallen by about 15%. The higher interest rate makes investing in anything much more expensive.

to your budding local activist groups

I've found a couple of them right in my own county - they could
be Google groups, Yahoo!, Facebook, or other prominent message board
or obscure blog discussion or niche site

A steady stream of the stories that are not making the evening news
is a big deal for newly awakening citizens

in regard to Trump's unfortunate character disorder. It's not a lie, it's a far more vague euphemism. Ignore it if possible.

Mr. President has a delusional world view that shifts constantly depending on his need to justify his own cruelty. We need an outside authority to step in and rein him in before he destroys everybody.

Uh oh. Nobody but craven immoral hypocritical Republicans as far as the eye can see.

Boy oh boy were we ever conned.

Everyone has a "tell" when they lie. Donnie's is very easy to spot-when he lies he makes a circle by joining his thumb to his index finger, usually on an upraised right hand.

narcissistic. And out of his depth regarding the information coming at him. They used to show movies to Reagan of what was going on so he, a dyslexic like Trump, could process information in the 3D way dyslexics do. Trump needs much less information. Or more time. Months to process. He has neither.

I would never refer to Trumpf as "our president"; I would always use "the president".
