the GOP has steadily increased its power at the State and Federal level. While Obama was President, the GOP was controlling the debate, and after 2010, the GOP effectively controlled the agenda.
At this point, the Democrats have no power to affect policy and show no disposition, with rare exceptions, to even challenge the GOP on appointments.
