Have proven themselves to be far better than Democrats at selling ideas to voters. Look at Kansas and Louisiana, both states had to become republican run hellholes before voters finally revolted and elected some Democrats to help lead. Democrats craft largely excellent public policy, then trip over themselves using big words and phrases to describe it, or failing to properly anticipate the effort needed to get that policy smoothly running (the ACA Exchanges are a perfect example, as was the Democrats failure to pound home daily how much state by state health insurance premium increases had decreased under the ACA relative to what they were before the ACA). Republicans use simple imagery and pound it home in every sentence they speak, while Democrats use fancy, convoluted sentences to describe far superior policy. So, even as Democrats drag the country forward toward a brighter future, our politicians pay at the polls.
Republicans have it easy, with Democrats in control, republicans just refuse to do the jobs they are paid to do, but when republicans take charge, they lie incessantly and use simple, florid language to call shitballs sweet peaches, and many votes buy their bullshit and keep electing them.
