It's sort of like the time you woke up in that motel with a stranger beside you in bed

and as you got up you were trying to remember what happened

And then suddenly it all came back: driving to Vegas on a whim, sitting at the blackjack table, where somebody kept bringing you free drinks, and suddenly, when your money was nearly gone, the nice man who came over to help took you to dinner and showed you where to hock your car for some cash

And he was so friendly, it just felt right to drive through the wedding chapel and marry him, since then the trip wouldn't be a total bust, before the two of you found some burgers and a room

And then you realized, hey! stuff like this happens to everybody! and suddenly you were at peace with the world

Not that I'm saying it's exactly like that but it's sort of like that

People's normal inhibitions are suppressed there for some reason. I remember a trip there to a convention back in 1990. At a press party, I noticed a pretty blonde woman sitting alone. Normally, I would have done nothing about that. I'm really pretty shy with people I don't know.

But, I went over there and introduced myself. We sat and chatted for awhile. We were both media people, there to cover the convention. And so, something began in Vegas.

We've been married now for 25 and a half years. Sometimes things that happen in Vegas don't end in Vegas.
