"But you want a wall."

There are over half a million homeless people in the United States. They are children. They are veterans. They are families.
But you want a wall.
Education is underfunded. Teachers are underpaid. We are failing our children.
But you want a wall.
Systemic racism, sexism, and the overall oppression of minorities (that affect the well-being of millions of human beings every single day) continue to be fueled and encouraged by your president.
But you want a wall.
They're taking away healthcare from you, children, the elderly, and the veterans you claim to care so much about.
But you want a wall.
Scientific facts that affect our bodies and our planet - our only home - are ignored, silenced, and replaced with ill-informed religiously biased opinions. Then those opinions are used to oppress you. They are used to oppress all of us.
But you want a wall.
You loudly opposed corruption and lies. You cried "national security threat!" You wanted someone "not like the rest." Yet you voted for a rich, corrupt, lying, human embodiment of "national security threat!"
Because you want that wall.
You turn away human beings fleeing war-ridden countries because "we need to help our fellow Americans." Yet you continuously ignore our cries. You ignore the cries of Native Americans. You ignore the cries of the hungry and the poor and the disabled. You ignore the cries of people of color and the cries of the LGBTQ+ community. You ignore the cries of women. You ignore the cries of the veterans who fight for your right to have your harmful opinions. You ignore the cries of human beings all around you.
You don't want to help anyone. You just want a wall. You will build it with your own tax dollars. You will build it with your own hands. And you will build it for your very oppressors. Do you really fail to see how building a wall doesn't only keep people out, but also keeps you in?
Now is the time to rise above the learned hatred for other human beings. Now is the time to say, "We will do better because we deserve better." People's lives are at stake.
We will grow louder. We will not let the oppressors silence us any longer.
