Sometimes the end does not justify the means to that end.

Control of a loyal military by civilian authority is a primary goal of this country. An uncontrolled military leads to a government run by that military.

Be careful what you wish for.

Do we wait until the camps are built and the transports start taking the undesirables to them?

The German military was loyal, too...and controlled by "civilian" authority...how did that turn out for millions of people?

Face it we can no longer depend on the so-called checks and balances, the Republicans will support this madman, because they can realize their greatest wet dream...the dismantling of the federal government and the creation of a caste system!!!

And next week we get his nominee for the US Supreme Court!

I'm a veteran, and right now I believe that the military is the only organization left that can save our democracy! The Republicans won't, the Democrats can't, and voters who support Trump, seem to be okay with a foreign power interfering with our elections!

Here's the deal: A military that is controlled by itself is not under control. We have civilian control of the military because we are not a third-world banana republic. Is that a perfect thing? Of course not. But, no civilian control of the military is so very dangerous that it is prohibited by our Constitution.

So, no. No coups in this country, thanks very much. As a veteran, I saw lots of military leaders. I don't want any of the ones I saw in charge of government, thanks. No freaking way.

Many countries have been taken over by coups.

Let's hope it doesn't happen here, because a coup is usually about putting someone else in power. Mostly someone the military support. It's a common thing in countries that end up with dictators in power.

Top brass can also resign rather then carry out orders that, while they may be lawful, is in their opinion crazy or would harm this nation and it's citizens.

Believe me. There is always worse.

is to recall both Bannon and Flynn to service. Then the military could manage both of them. Flynn could be given an empty desk in a room in the Pentagon. Bannon's a little tougher because he was in the Navy, but he could be stashed on a ship at sea for a long time or maybe stationed at Diego Garcia.

military coups almost never end in Democratic outcomes. If someone is legitimately hoping the military removes Trump from power, be careful what you wish for.
