The governor of Washington lashed out at the Trump administration on Saturday over the train wreck of a mess caused by Trumps sweeping executive orders banning immigration from some Muslim countries and invalidating the visas of some legal residents, leaving them stranded in limbo at airports around the country.
These people couldnt run a two-car funeral, said Gov. Jay Inslee (D) at a press conference at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Saturday, according to the Seattle Times. It is a train wreck. It cant stand. Were drawing the line here at Sea-Tac.
Trumps orders were written so broadly that Customs and Border Control agents have been forced to improvise with regards to how to implement them. Reuters said that in the resulting chaos, travelers have been stranded, detained or forced to return to their flights points of origin with no warning.

The order is worded in such a way that even those holding current green cards and living in the U.S. as legal residents are subject to deportation as they try to re-enter the country.

We will be relying on the likes of him, Cuomo, Brown, and other good Dem governors in the weeks and months to come.

Russian, apparently, can be seen from Alaska. I'd b more concerned about that side of the continent. Or how about concern for the country as a whole.

I am profoundly grateful he is the governor and that he's got the balls to speak up against this walking, talking, disaster.

(1,107 posts)Howdy, nice to meet you neighbor.
Our urban brothers and sisters really don't understand the concept of distance in rural America. We are over 120 miles apart and yet we could find ourselves feeling like neighbors.
How does it feel in Wenatchee these days? We've got some very active people up here in Tonasket, our gatherings for Bernie had a number of people show up who normally just go down the list voting for everything with an "R" after the name. I only saw a couple of signs out for tRump during the run up to the election
I go to town as little as possible and haven't been down since the latest barrage of EOs. I'll be driving the 20 mile round trip I take to pick up the mail and supplies this week. It will be interesting to feel what the collective energy is in little Tonasket.
Stay strong (and warm)

(24,766 posts)At the Women's March last Saturday. Great turnout. As you know, this is a conservative area. But there is a small but strong voice for progressive values and reason here.
Good to meet you.
