My grandmother came from Syria. (Armenian Christian)
She was deported from Ellis Island due to either quotas or trachoma. She had an infant and was married to a US citizen. She eventually got in. Mexico took them in the meanwhile.

(21,786 posts)Xerox invented the GUI, Jobs just stole the idea. Smartphones would've happened anyway (along with touchscreen technology). Jobs never invented or innovated anything, he just took credit for other people's work and ideas. (This isn't any kind of argument against allowing refugees and immigrants from Syria et al, I think this ban is stupid and immoral, but your points here are nonsense.)

The two people to have the most impact on the US in the 21st century had fathers from Syria and Kenya.
