with a simple majority in the Senate by using reconciliation. They could have used the same strategy to pass anything they wanted, but chose this.

The one time they did use it for something big - they could have shot the moon.

They probably should have in hindsight.

Democrats had a 60 seat majority from September 24, 2009 thru February 4, 2010. 4 months; not 2 years! Then knock another 30 days for recess

as a Dem to get that number.

Still begs the question, why do Repugs need 51 to have a majority and Dems must have 60. This needs to be fixed.

It's in their DNA, and the media never calls them on the lie, instead choosing to give the lie the same weight as the truth so as to appear "fair and balanced." And when a professed news organization says they're fair and balanced they're saying everyone else is lying, the language of a cult. Anyone thinking the Republicans are a political party and not a cult isn't paying attention or hasn't the ability to critically think.
Pox News serves to provide cover for the rest of the corporate media to broadcast a more subtle propaganda that is more dangerous as it's concealed in slippery language.
Somewhere the spirit of Joseph Goebbels is smiling or green with envy.

She was holding a Romney spokesman's feet to the fire, trying to get a straight answer to a simple question: Does Romney support Arizona's SB 1070 or not?

It went on for some time with the guy, top Romney advisor Carlos Gutierrez, never answering the question despite O'Brien's continued pressing, "It's a yes or no question."

There are some good journalists out there--but you sure as hell won't find them at FNC, brother.

They won't answer because, on many issues, RMoney's campaign is torpedo'd by his record. How inconvenient that the media recorded what he said.

When the fact of the matter is that Obama could have passed a lot more through if he had coming out swinging his first year in the same manner he has come out swing this year.

Instead, he tried to play nice, be bipartisan, compromise, and we're paying the price for that mistake.

...is a fiction. Even during the new President's brief 'honeymoon' he faced powerful resistance in both houses of Congress.

Obama's term has been a testament to the adage that "politics is the art of the possible."
