"If urban areas tend to go Democrat and suburban/exurban areas go Republican, "The swing vote is what's left, and it lives in rural America," Saunders says. "These people have been voting Republican, but they're not really Republicans, and we need to show 'em why."

Democrats need to reframe the debate and start talking about what rural Americans really worry about, he says.

"It's unbelievable that Democrats can't figure out that what we're really worried about is health care and jobs, that Mama's got to get a second job and how we're getting Junior to the dentist.

"To me, as far as gays are concerned, ... what's two queer guys gettin' married got to do with me losing my job?"

I said much the same thing in a reply to another post. I just don't understand why President Obama and the Dems don't get this??

The problem is the "new" democratic party-- started by Bill Clinton, Rahmbo Emanuel, Terry McAuliffe, etc., who
decided back prior to the 1996 POTUS election to move the party to the right, throw labor and minorites
under the bus, and kiss corporate ass to get campaign funding-- just like the repug party does. they decided to
go after urban/suburban educated white voters-- just like the repug party does.

FAIL. this worked in 1996, and hasn't worked well since. bush won two elections; a total disaster which we may
never recover from.

in 2010, NINE incumbent democratic governors were booted out of office in several key swing states, replaced with
repug governors, including the uber clown, anti-union Walker in WI, Snyder in MI and Kasich in OH.

Clue: you can't "out-conservative" the conservatives... stupid idea which doesn't motivate voters.

Helloooooo?
