Help With Censorship At Youtube!

This plea for help came from Republicandirtytricks.com this morning:

Calling all RDT'ers and Mike Malloy fans!

I need your help. All but one of the videos I made with radio host Mike Malloy were attacked by right wingers, flagged "inappropriate" and taken down.

Now Youtube is telling me that they ARE inappropriate!

WHAT?!?

A sit-down interview with Congressman Dennis Kuchinich is "nudity, graphic violence or hate?" A "Veterans for Peace" protest at the White House is "nudity, graphic violence or hate?" A sit-down interview with Spike Ward - the woman who wrote an article about the ACA is "nudity, graphic violence or hate?" Interviews outside the Supreme Court are "nudity, graphic violence or hate?" Where is the offending content? I find it hard to believe these videos were reviewed and deemed "inappropriate." I never received an email telling me exactly "what" the problem was - I just opened my account and the videos were gone. Some of these videos have been up for over a year or more... now, suddenly, they were flagged "inappropriate" and removed. The flying monkeys attacked and Youtube is enabling them - this is a CHILLING assault on free speech and the power to spread progressive voices! I will be contacting Rep. Kucinich and the VFP to let them know that Youtube deems them "inappropriate," but in the meantime, I NEED YOUR HELP!

PLEASE, take a moment if you can to contact Youtube and ask them for an appeal. The Right Wing are launching attacks on free speech all over the web, and Youtube is making it easy for them.

My response to Youtube:

I just saw that you scrubbed some very important and informative videos featuring Mike
Malloy and want to know if this is reflective of a right wing bias on
Youtube's part, because these videos were in no conceivable way
"offensive."

I would rather not boycott Youtube, but will forever unless you restore
Mr. Malloy's very important and informative videos. In addition, I will
urge others to do the same, in person, by email, and in my web site as
well as others with considerable audiences who are sympathetic to First
Amendment issues.

Please do the right thing and restore those videos *now.*

1. How about for the moment putting your videos somewhere else

where people can see them before asking this? I would watch them if you did this and maybe even write an email for you like you ask. Others would too I'm sure. Try Vimeo.

I contacted Congressman Kucinich's Press Secretary, Nathaniel White, for help... and he "worked with Youtube" to resolve this.

...along with the emails from Mike's fans, subscribers to my Republican Dirty Tricks Facebook page, (http://Facebook.com/RepublicanDirtyTricks) and the DU community, the videos have been restored!

We know why they were flagged "inappropriate" - the Right Wing flying monkeys attacked Mike - but, why Youtube actually acquiesced and removed them after a supposed "review" remains a mystery. As is their pattern, Youtube provides no explanation. I logged in this morning and they were still labeled "inappropriate" - 2 hours later, they are all back online.

My research has found that it is a common Right Wing tactic to launch campaigns tagging liberal videos as "inappropriate" so Youtube removes them.

This is a problem. Unfortunately, many individuals who feel they don't have an activist community standing behind them simply concede to Youtube, believing they have no recourse. Youtube gives you such a run-around, I think it must be designed to induce that response. Youtube REALLY needs to design a better system so as not to enable this harassment.

But what can we expect from the Right Wing? They are desperate to silence progressive media - as limited as it is - in all its forms. They pay people to post on blogs, call in to radio shows, rewrite Wikipedia - and launch harassment campaigns like this latest one against Mike.

As I wrote to Mike the day this happened, "these actions are actually a testament to just how bankrupt the Con ideology is.

They must silence the truth of opposing voices, lest the people catch on quicker than they already are that Cons have turned "the Land of the Free" into "The United States of Serfs and Lords." They've have had a few long decades in the driver's seat, but all the people have to do is look around at their lives, see the dismal reality Cons have created, and see that they've been played. So as the people catch on, the CON backlash against any voice in the wilderness screaming the truth will get more aggressive.

Unlike Liberalism, with it's history of actually creating an economically-vibrant and politically powerful working class - the Con ideology cannot stand on facts, reality, or a history of success... it is, as you always say, a death cult. It depends on and cultivates selfishness, greed, divisiveness, fear, ignorance - the worst parts of the human condition - to survive. That's an ideology destined for doom - and one that provokes abhorrent behavior.

Like any death cult that has nothing to stand on, it resorts to tactics like harassment (as in this case), suppression (voter suppression, worker's rights suppression, etc.), division (white against black, straight against gay, men against women, etc...), and violence (Tim McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, Jared Loughner, Anders Behring... etc... etc... etc.).

I mean... look at the facts. Doesn't the Bible say, "know them by their fruits?" Con policies = "Great Depression I" and "Great Depression II," Liberal policies = "The Great Prosperity." Today's attack on our freedom - the "freedom" they pretend to love - speaks volumes of the fact that they are desperate - and wrong.

I often call them "ghouls," but they are truly "ghosts" of times best left in the dung heap of history. Which is where they will eventually wind up. It WILL happen - I just hope it happens in my lifetime. "

5. Ghouls...

...or zombies? My cousin thought the description of a zombie in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie) more descriptive of the typical Cons - "The term is often figuratively applied to describe a hypnotized person bereft of consciousness and self-awareness, yet ambulant and able to respond to surrounding stimuli."but "ghoul" works for me too!
