You can't tell me every one of them wants war on the scale it would be with Iran or China. You can't tell me they all want to let Putin have any influence or control over our country. They can't all think Trump's insulting posture he is taking with foreign leaders is a good idea relationships throughout the world.
McCain, Graham, Rand Paul, Rubio, Murkowski, Collins, Flake. I hear some scolding actions and words by Trump - well DO SOMETHING!
Did Russia hand over some opposition research on Ryan and McConnell that they did a total 180 right before the election and started kissing Trump's ass? Blackmailing them with some nasty secrets?
Republicans have to step up. Why are they so afraid? What do they know, what have they been told?

(13,783 posts)Almost worse than Trump is the idea that there are ALMOST NO Republicans of intelligence and integrity in either the house or the senate. How can that be?????

(2,795 posts)the deregulations and moral legislation and the efforts to make America a white christian nation - that I can see totally those toads being perfectly fine with. But wars with countries like Iran or allowing Russia to influence anything in our country is wrong and they have to know it. They won't be safe from it all. How can they think they are some how exceptional that they and their families will be untouched by war on that scale?

(63,883 posts)I wish those two would get truth serum. I hate them too.
You know Giuliani he likes to squeal like a pig he probably knows what is going on. We need to a timeline on him and when he said we got some big news or something like that a week before the election. Comey where he hell is he???

(3,922 posts)We have another thing coming if we expect the republicans to help save the country.
They will ride this horse as far as they can to get whatever they can before they get rid of trump.
They're drunk with power now.Don't expect any positive action from any republican.

(2,795 posts)without the risk of insulting and destroying relationships with our allies. They can have all of this with Pence . Pence is a huge bag of dicks but he at least wouldn't be an idiotic asshole with leaders of other countries.

Then when all is crap, they themselves can impeach him and say "Look, we're the good guys, we saved the world from this menace."

(2,795 posts)I always thought they would let that go forward and then use that if they needed to remove him when he became too much of a liability. But if they don't investigate it and know, they are taking away any leverage to remove him. So maybe they don't want to or can't because Russia maybe gave dumpy some juicy opposition research to blackmail those two with.

(18,402 posts)They are delirious about the chance to get all the things they've wanted to do for years, but didn't have the power. Now that they do, they're willing to tolerate Trump until they can pass as much horrible legislation as they can:
Repeal of Obamacare!
Tax Cuts!
Deregulation of everything!
Slashing "entitlements"!
When they've got it all, they'll throw him off like a cheap suit to save their necks for the next election.

Once upon a time, some members of the Republican caucus had integrity.
Given the state of the Republican Party today, anyone with an ounce of integrity has shed the Republican mantle.
I could be wrong, but I just don't see any of these folks actually revolting. If there are any who haven't completely sold their souls, I wouldn't be surprised to see them "bow out" at the end of their terms rather than stand up.

(16,829 posts)All they care about is power. And if they stand up and say the truth they will lose their place in the party. They are hostages to the devil, having sold their souls.

Also, a whole lot of cowardice.

(34,136 posts)They had just before the GOP convention. Remember that there was lots of talk about ways to block Trump up until about a week before the convention then all of that suddenly went silent.
With what has come out since I've wondered if the Russians let the GOP leadership know that they had tons of stuff that could be put out about every single one of them if they fought Trump's nomination. It would explain a lot of what has happened since.
meadowlark5
(2,795 posts)There was way too much buy in really quickly ftom republicans who previously said really negative stuff about Trump. Then suddenly he was a good candidate. I think the Russians have something on many and they're playing along to keep it quiet.

(1 post)My first post, so maybe I can create a thread later. I have a bone to pick and I'm sure many here could agree. On the very day... Free speech 1st amendment seems to be a republican headlines outcry after the UC Berkeley riot last night. I have to call out one big fake who pretends he's a big supporter of the 1st Amendment....Alex Jones who has for years banned thousands for their speech as was done to me today. Alex Jones is a big hypocrite, who pretends he's a big defender of free speech but bans constantly others, who he does not agree with. I would love to bring together all those who have been banned by Alex Jones over the years and make a compilation of people who would like to call Alex Jones a free speech fraud and hypocrite.

But generally, no one wants to hear about him. He really is beneath contempt. Welcome to DU! You can be sure that others here share your opinion.

(63,216 posts)They'll let him push as much crazy nonsense as they can, all of it generally in line with their essential platform. So when Trump crashes and burns (for whatever reason), they can nobly step up to roll back his most egregious bullshit while still having significantly advanced their agenda. They'll be able to claim that they acted decisively to rein Trump in, even though he was part of their own party. And they'll use that slogan for decades, claiming to have proven their dedication to serving the country.
Further, every last one of those "buyer's remorse" voters, who now pretend that they've changed their minds about Trump, will certainly decide that the GOP has redeemed itself, and they'll be back to pulling the Red lever in 2018 and 2020.

(4,399 posts)of Republicans who:
a. are racist dipshits and agree with Trump;
b. need votes from the racist dipshits in their district to hold on to their seat;
c. are similarly compromised either by the FSB or by other Republicans in another category;
d. see Trump as a useful idiot who will ram through their extremist agenda and who can easily be disposed of later;
e. are greedy and stupid and are betting that Trump's policies will end up enriching them in the end;
f. are even more corrupt than Trump and see his shenanigans as a useful cover for their own wrongdoing.

(8,133 posts)these people who voted for Trump and, according to polls, still support him. Part of it is they resent us "elites." Not sure why. Maybe it's because they think we feel superior to them. I notice that the people who especially are resentful are those who either didn't go to college, or even the people who went to a crappy university are resentful if went to a better school, etc.
There is nothing that breeds resentfulness and hatred than jealousy and envy.
