We will see a health insurance mandate in our lifetime

I think it is a foregone conclusion that this will be overturned. However, Mass. has shown that a state can clearly enforce a mandate for their residents.

Well, for the same reason EVERY state has elected to have a drinking age of 21 and a BAC driving limit of 0.08, we will have a mandate in every state. Eventually, our representatives will grow a pair and deny medicaid funding for any state without a mandate.
