There is a memo circulating that he* wants to deport all visa holders who aren't essential workers.

There is memo circulating that Drumpf wants to deport all visa holders who aren't essential workers and those that have received any form of public assistance in the last five years.

I hope the Deplorables like paying five dollars for a tomato:

The administration would be seeking to “deny admission to any alien who is likely to become a public charge” and to develop standards for “determining whether an alien is deportable . . . for having become a public charge within five years of entry” — receiving a certain amount of public assistance, including food stamps, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Medicaid.

The second order, titled “Executive Order on Protecting American Jobs and Workers by Strengthening the Integrity of Foreign Worker Visa Programs” calls for “eliminating” the “jobs magnet” that is driving illegal immigration to the United States, according to a copy obtained by The Post. The order would rescind any work visa provisions for foreign nationals found not to be in “the national interest” or found to be in violation of U.S. immigration laws.

8. I would have to do some research but Georgia passed draconian restrictions on undocumented workers.

They cheered mightily when the laws were passed and next thing you know Wah nobody will pick our crops and we can barely pay minimum wage anyway Wah.

I remember all the migrant workers left the state in droves. All these people nowadays who believe whites will do stoop labor must be keyboard warriors past retirement age.

Of course they won't do them because it's stoop labor; extraordinarily hard work, as you said. Maybe the elderly Trumpies are thinking back to their youth on the farm when it was good enough for them. That's the only way I can imagine right now why they would say something so stupid in regard to farm jobs.

There's going to be a great deal of pushback from tech industries if he tries to kick them out.

Mr. frazzled just went off this afternoon for round one of a search committee meeting to hire a new full-time faculty member for his department. He'd read more than 150 applications and was supposed to come with his top ten most qualified choices. Before he left I asked him, timidly, how many foreigners were on his list. There were three. I then said, "This should never interfere with your impartial judgment, but do you think it could be necessary to bring up the question of whether there might be problems at this moment either getting someone in or, conversely, them wanting to pull out at the last minute because of the horrible situation here?" These searches are long and arduous, and somewhat costly, and when a chosen candidate pulls out, it's a total bummer.

We have a friend who has been here a year and a half in a prominent position at an arts institution who has been advised by his attorney he should absolutely not travel anywhere. He is in such despair that he is thinking of leaving the job and the country for good.

This is affecting lots and lots and lots of people, both Americans and foreigners.
