the concept at all, just posted this thread for people's thoughts.

But, actually, to defend the first amendment rights don't we have to support flag burners, book burners and whatever else? By support, I mean the right to that expression?

It gets a bit confusing. I support the 1st amendment and feel that flag burning is fair game.... and the book thing feels creepy .... but why?

I know it really bothers me when any book gets banned, burned, or anything else. I don't like that some books written by Mark Twain are subject to culling because of the language and subject matter. You just can't sanitize everything. Maybe we should all grab a bottle of whiskey and "The Art of the Deal" and peruse the vile thing so we can "know thine enemy". I just haven't bothered to buy or borrow the book and never will because Donald Trump is a major fuck up - always has been, always will be. The book will end up in a lot of garage sales which says something in itself.

fabulous idea that we should all send Trump a 99 cent copy of the Constitution.

Don't you love it? He gets a million copies of the Constitution in the mail? His brain would boil so much the rat on his head would just get up and walk away. He'd freak.

The sight of Trump's books being burnt by liberals or anyone else opposed to King Con would be like Christmas in February to Faux News and the Trumpkins in general.

Besides which, books should never be burned because even with the best of intentions it will only exalt perfectly bad ideas and discredit those trying to cast them out.

Book burnings are a hallmark of repressive regimes. We don't want to go in that direction. That would make us no better than them. Besides, people would have to buy copies, therefore lining Lord Dampnut's pockets even more.

But no matter who does it, it looks like an attempt to suppress expression. Even stupid expression shouldn't be suppressed. Granted, Trump's opponents burning his books wouldn't be violating the Constitution because it wouldn't be government action. But it still looks suppressive so we shouldn't do it.

I don't like burning books.

I had a science fiction writer (I can't remember his name) at a science fiction convention who put a white copy generic science fiction novel in a feminine hygiene sanitary bag. That might be more appropriate (packaged along with Atlas Shrugged and Mark Levin's books).

Give Trump a bunch of money for his books.
Burn the books, emulating the book burners of the past.

Buy Trump even more money for more of his books.
Burn those.

What possibly could be the flaw?

lots of stuff to burn besides books, burn a nazi flag or a confederate flag instead, or that stupid "Trump flag" some military unit ran last week.

burning Trump's ghost-written book just pushes a personal vendetta, thereby contributing to the cult of personality while forfeiting any larger message in the imagery, and frankly any book burning looks like it puts the protesters on the wrong side of history
