(25,941 posts)2. Not a wise investment in the tRump era IMO
With graft and corruption now considered admirable qualities, any of these projects would be lucky to see a dime put toward its stated goal.

Japan invests in our infrastructure so we use their products to build it?

All of a sudden the Japanese want to help improve OUR infrastructure? Are they rewarding Comrade Trump for stirring up shit with China, or is this just misreporting, or even fake news? I'm going with the latter, as "timeinc.net" is not Time-Warner. They are "timeinc.com."

right after Mexico ponies up for the wall.
I thought this was fake. I saw it on facebook and then googled it.
All I could find was fox news and fortune magazine reporting this.

The main part of it is that Japan is proposing that the USA buys its technology. So that's an import, for the USA. Where the "700,000 US jobs" are isn't so sure; whether they mean 700,000 would be employed during the building, or they estimate infrastructure improvement would create those jobs in the long term, I can't tell.

Say what? If this is true, Trump had nothing to do with it. Bill Clinton got the ball rolling. Trump will take all the credit.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS; Japan Announces a Plan To Create 700,000 Jobs
The Japanese Government today announced a plan to create more than 700,000 jobs but failed to say how much it intended to spend, leaving the plan's potential power to stimulate the economy somewhat mysterious.
The plan, which would create the jobs through a package of measures that includes subsidies to emerging industries such as biotechnology and telecommunications, was publicly offered one day after Japan reported the first significant economic growth in two years. But the first-quarter expansion of 1.9 percent was seen as a temporary effect of earlier Government spending
