House Speaker Paul Ryan said he wasn't concerned that House staff secretly advised Donald Trump's transition operation on an executive order while signing nondisclosure agreements covering their work.

In an interview that aired Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Ryan (R-Wis.) referred to House Ethics Committee guidance disseminated after the election for how legislative aides might work for and advise Trump's transition team. When host Chuck Todd asked Ryan whether "somebody paid by the taxpayers (should) be able to have a nondisclosure agreement in force," Ryan suggested it was not a major problem because "they're following the rules."

"Yeah, well, the Ethics Committee put in place procedures back after the election for how staff would interact with transition teams, and they're following those procedures," he said.

The publicly available guidance, however, does not say anything about nondisclosure agreements, leaving ambiguity about what is and is not allowed.

especially on TV. This has never happened before, and just wait until you see the outrage from his fellow Republicans! Oh, Paul Ryan has been very naughty. Stay tuned for the intense condemnations. Republicans are the party of morality and respect for law. You just wait for their criticisms and his ultimate censure. Are you waiting? Still waiting? Still . . . ?
