Fucking AWESOME post from FB:
You voted for Trump because Clinton was going to be in Wall Street's pocket. Trump wants to repeal Dodd-Frank and eliminate the Fiduciary Rule, letting Wall Street return to its pre-2008 ways.
You voted for Trump because of Clinton's emails. The Trump administration is running its own private email server.
You voted for Trump because you thought the Clinton Foundation was "pay for play." Trump has refused to wall off his businesses from his administration, and personally profits from payments from foreign governments.
You voted for Trump because of Clinton's role in Benghazi. Trump ordered the Yemen raid without adequate intel, and tweeted about "FAKE NEWS" while Americans died as a result of his carelessness.
You voted for Trump because Clinton didn't care about "the little guy." Trump's cabinet is full of billionaires, and he took away your health insurance so he could give them a multi-million-dollar tax break.
You voted for Trump because he was going to build a wall and Mexico was going to pay for it. American consumers will pay for the wall via import tariffs.
You voted for Trump because Clinton was going to get us into a war. Trump has provoked our enemies, alienated our allies, and given ISIS a decade's worth of recruiting material.
You voted for Trump because Clinton didn't have the stamina to do the job. Trump hung up on the Australian Prime Minister during a 5pm phone call because "it was at the end of a long day and he was tired and fatigue was setting in."
You voted for Trump because foreign leaders wouldn't "respect" Clinton. Foreign leaders, both friendly and hostile, are openly mocking Trump.
You voted for Trump because Clinton lies and "he tells it like it is." Trump and his administration lie with a regularity and brazenness that can only be described as shocking.
Let's be honest about what really happened.
The reality is that you voted for Trump because you got conned. Trump is a grifter and the American people were the mark. Now that you know the score, quit insisting the con-man is on your side.
Those who voted for Stein really should be hanging their heads in shame.

(42,862 posts)That's the "vanity" vote. Those are the ones who intentionally burn down their own house and call it "redecorating".
Or they'll bulldoze their home because a leaky faucet needed repair "from the ground up".
It's short-sighted, and the author of the OP's essay captured everything perfectly in their description and analysis.

i'm dying to know who among the trump voters i know are feeling buyer's remorse, but so far, no one's said so to me. his poll numbers tell me it's happening though.
they thought they were being clever when what they were being was really fucking stupid. i think as parents of young children in public school, they may be realizing that right about now. but like i say, if so, she isn't telling me.

(115,732 posts)If you were ask them to explain exactly what it was about her that they hated, they wouldn't have much to say - mostly vague mutterings about Benghazi and emails and corruption. These are educated people who are not religious and couldn't care less about abortion or other right-wing social issues. Whether they are also overtly or consciously racist is not clear (though one of them certainly is). It was mostly about Hillary. And yes indeed, they got conned, bigly. I don't know how they feel now, though, after Trump has been stepping on rakes ever since he was sworn in, because I am no longer speaking to them.

(193 posts)I have deliberately "shunned" one of my former good friends. He is a conservative and we had a good time debating previously. His anti- Clinton rhetoric was just too over the top in person and on FB during the election. I boycotted a party he threw to avoid him and arguing ( as much as I love arguing) with the brainless sheep that I knew would attend. Saw him at a local watering hole and chatted up other friends even conservatives who weren't so outspoken anti-Clinton. I walked by him on my way out the door with a slight head nod and a "hey what's up?" just to mind f#$k him. He is smart enough to know DT is a menace, but doesn't care. Funny thing is his wife is a South American immigrant who works 10X as hard as he does and he shows her the same respect as DT does Melania.. I don't need people like that in my life.

(14,174 posts)I think what is underestimated is the power of the repeated big lie or in this case lies, using their monopoly on daytime talk radio, plus the prominence of Fox News who use salacious blond commentators and inflammatory rhetoric mixed with half-truths and bold faced lies and eye-catching graphics and audio.
I was for Bernie, but I am well aware of the 'vast right wing conspiracy' against her and her husband ever since they came onto the scene. Decades of misinformation over and over, all negative, takes it toll on the mind. To the point where it doesn't matter if someone points out each and every "scandal" as either being overblown or downright false. The dark cloud is firmly locked above her. And while I knew this is what she had to overcome on Nov. 8th, I truly did not see just how insidious and wide spread this had taken hold across middle America. Because you are right, I've heard more than once from normally decent intelligent people that it was almost that they were pissed that they HAD to vote for Trump because the alternative was "crooked" Hillary.
So I really think that this media block is the biggest stumbling block to Democrats even getting a fair shake. Ironically it was Bill himself that helped spurn this on with his signing of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, allowing Republican leaning companies like Clear Channel to scoop up every station they could.

But I could see Trump as a fraud from a million zazillion miles away! Really sad that this country has so many gullible people. I never thought the US would go THIS low.

(66,381 posts)Their unreasoning loathing of HRC borders on murderous hysteria.
If the world is destroyed in a nuclear holocaust, in the smoldering ruins, one will likely find surviving right-wingers babbling: "e-mails......Benghazi......" and surviving ultra-left-wingers hissing: "speaking fees..."
peggysue2
(10,830 posts)Sums it up quite nicely. All HRC's 'sins' sound silly and empty in comparison to Trump's daily assault on the country and our values. I still cannot get over his O'Reilly interview where Trump drew a moral equivalency between Putin's Russia and the United States. We've certainly made our share of mistakes and bone-headed moves, but the last time I checked we were not assassinating journalists and political activists.
I agree with General McCaffrey: Trump's remarks were the most unAmerican comments made by a US President, ever. The very people who voted for Don the Con will be hurt the first and the most. For those who won't admit the mistake now, they will be forced to fess up once the damage comes home to roost.
