being clever, just gathering ammo to sling, but over time their brain functions do become affected, they are processing different information differently, and much of this stuff does end up in their bag of knowledge as things they know. Whole frames of knowledge, what they KNOW that does not need to be questioned because it is proven, become based on an accumulated sediment of these lies.

Also extremely alarming, social scientists have found that large numbers of Americans on the right-- AND significant numbers on the left, are becoming extremist in their thinking, nursed along by a constant diet of lies. They are no longer the political people they were 10, 15, 20 years ago. They are people who could elect a disordered, debauched swindler like Trump. And others are people who could insist, and worse--believe--that a good, decent woman is no better than Trump.
