Plaintiff had the unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as an extremely famous and well-known person to launch a broad-based commercial brand in multiple product categories, each of which could have garnered multi-million dollar business relationships for a multi-year term during which plaintiff is one of the most photographed women in the world, the lawsuit outlines.
These product categories would have included, among other things, apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, hair care, skin care and fragrance, it continues.
Mrs. Trump is alleging $150 million in damages in their filing to the Manhattan Supreme Court.

Unreal if that's true

(27,817 posts)... that's pretty thin soup.
Had Melania already been in negotiation with manufacturers and fragrance designers, and had reached agreements with distributors and stores to sell her merchandise, there might be an argument here - especially if said agreements were cancelled or withdrawn due to the "defamation" she allegedly suffered.
To say, "Well, I could have made money doing this" doesn't cut it. There is no proof that she ever had any intention of launching a line of merchandise, and certainly no way of calculating what income she would have derived from doing so - or, in the alternative, how much money she could have lost if such a venture failed.
Thin soup indeed.
