Texas GOP Platform Calls For Repealing Voting Rights Act Of 1965

Texas GOP Platform Calls For Repealing Voting Rights Act Of 1965 | The Republican Party of Texas released its platform this month, calling on Congress to repeal the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965. “We urge that the Voter [sic] Rights Act of 1965 codified and updated in 1973 be repealed and not reauthorized,” the platform reads. Texas is one of nine states with a history of racial discrimination that must get clearance from the Department of Justice before altering its voting laws.

Zip codes in which a preponderence of the residents are low-income, black, brown or have Hispanic surnames, etc.

A zip code tells marketers whether or not the residents can afford what they are selling - in this case they are selling the GOP and they may determine that they may get no buyers in that zip code.

And, I have plenty of common sense - apparently alot more than you.......

TX GOP Senate Candidates Unanimously Oppose Voting Rights Act

http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/03/16/445917/tx-gop-senate-candidates-unanimously-oppose-voting-rights-act/

They called for repeal of the Voting Rights Act provision that requires Texas and other Southern states with histories of discrimination to receive pre-clearance when changing election laws.

“Right now, Texas is subjected to different standards than much of the country,” former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz said during the forum, hosted by the Dallas Bar Association. “I think we need to be fighting to ensure the law is colorblind and fair to everyone.”

Voting Rights Act
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_Rights_Act

States and counties requiring preclearance under Section 5 of the VRA as of January, 2008. Several small jurisdictions have since bailed out,[21] but the majority of the map remains accurate
The jurisdictions listed below must be precleared (see 28 C.F.R. part 51 appendix):[22]

States
Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Georgia, except for the city of Sandy Springs
Louisiana
Mississippi
South Carolina
Texas
Virginia, except for fourteen counties (Amherst, Augusta, Botetourt, Essex, Frederick, Greene, Middlesex, Page, Pulaski, Roanoke, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Washington and Warren) and four independent cities (Fairfax, Harrisonburg, Salem, and Winchester)

SOON EVEN MORE SECRET VOTER PURGE LISTS COMING TO A CITY NEAR YOU JUST LIKE IN FLORIDA
RIGHT NOW

The progression continues...

And saying that ending slavery caused a holocaust for blacks from being set free.

Scalia cited essentially eugenics laws on when states were able to evict or punish anyone in their states who were poor, disabled or the wrong color, in his vote on immigration law. Obama and the DOJ are resisting him and now the GOP is calling to impeach him for it.

I never expected to see a return of this level of regression in my lifetime. And they will win either way if the American people keep electing them.

If a civil war ensues, they win because they've gutted the ability of civil government to fight back.

If we don't have a civil war, keep on putting up with them and allow them to continue to destroy civil soceity, and give in they also win.

Only solution is to keep the person in office who is fighting them off. And put more in to support him doing it.

We are living in a time when we can choose. For a little while longer, anyway.

IT WILL LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THAT ONLY MODERN so merely imagine the possibilities.

There is already the prison state, that's easy, its already done, what's next? You can already add to this list now even. Serfdom is what they want. Add working for Walmart at 8 dollars an hour, add no health care, no own place to live... Already modern Serfdom. Keep going.... It IS going to happen people, it is already HAPPENING. Things cannot be any clearer than what they already are. It is that simple.

The peasantry knows its place and stays there - at the point of a sword - a small class of gentry serves the aristocrats as administrators and managers and the aristocrats (1%) rule everything, unchallenged and unchallengeable. Twas ever thus.

Why am I not surprised? The Republicans only want White Republican Males to vote and will find a way to disenfranchise anyone who doesn't fit this mold. Those who want this are not true Americans. They are fascists of the highest degree. I wonder if this might not be worthy of the label "treason" ?

Morally what they do is TREASON. Hell more than morally...what they do is TREASON. I just do not know what else to call it other than that, same as you. ITS OBVIOUS WHAT IT IS OTHERWISE PEOPLE WOULD NOT SAY IT. WE CAN SEE IT --And that is what matters... I am no lawyer, but it seems to me we need some new laws. Something must be done. You can never stop this by trying to only stop pieces of it. What's left when you do that just continues on.... Period. That is the way this stuff works. All you do is slow it some...in the end the same results.

Wed Jun 27, 2012, 10:31 AM

It will die like most crazy things do. Repugs are like little children lashing out at Mexicans for now becoming the majority. This an amusing act of desperation by a party of lunatics. America needs two parties, a Democratic one for capitalism, and another for socialism, the People. The so called greedy old party must die, or at the very least fade away. We know how they cheat, lie, steal and how corrupt they are. We must unite to end this cancer on our nation. God bless America, all of us no matter what race, ethnicity, gender, etc. We are America, and we will triumph!
