... Agent Orange does know how to read. Whatch the Orange/Trudeau press conference.
I wish WE would stick to real facts, and leave the alternative facts universe to them alone...
Just a thought...

(30,481 posts)There is a real aspect to that in society. I refused to wear glasses for a couple of years in elementary and middle school. The teasing was difficult. Not wearing them put me back a bit. I did wear them at home so didn't suffer too much.

(41,832 posts)although your post is kind of disjointed.
Yes, Trump can read. Speculation about this is way over the top and not based on fact.
More and more, I've been aggressively posting about exaggerated news by left biased websites. It's not really fake news, but it is sensationalized. It starts with click-bait headlines. Then when you read the article or better yet go to the original article in a mainstream publication you find the headline does not match.

(9,033 posts)or at the least not very well. Based on his avoidance of reading docs in a deposition, epic struggles with teleprompters, UUUUUGE vocabulary of only the best words, and signing of EOs without knowing what they say.
Vanity > lack of reading glasses could also explain most of it, I think, but surely that can't be the case with such a humble, modest and unassuming man.

(869 posts)There was a serious post on the web site building the case that Agent Orange cannot read. That he is illiterate. The author of the post builds his or her case in a way that I almost fell for it.
That he refuses to read is one legitimate argument, that he cannot is fake news. He can read.
All I am saying is that in this day and era of BS and fake news coming from the highest sources, we should step above this and try to stay with the real facts. Because we are better than Agent Orange and that whole group.
And please, for the Humane Society's sake, stop insulting Orangutans! They can be very loving creatures!

(11,738 posts)The premise is that he has difficulty reading to the point that he does not comprehend a good deal of what is put in front of him AND that he does not care to improve his skills. People are not saying that he can't read at all, just that his extremely poor skills and the demands of the job on those skills are creating a problem for him, and as such, they create a problem for the nation.
It is a hypothesis that has some backing.

(5,811 posts)There's a video of an Aprentice staff who handles script reads clearly stating TRUMP can't read. There's video of Trump during a deposition saying who couldn't read a lease agreement because the print was too small and forgot his glasses.
There's pictures of TRUMP signing EO's which are small print without his glasses.
Trump did a news conference with PM Abe in which he had prepared remarks re: Korean missile incident and did NOT READ them. Instead, he made a bizarre 15 second comment about that Japan was our partner and we're 100% behind them.
Trump has a desk stacked with papers because he wants to give the impression he can read but in reality he can't.
Trump signed the EO putting Bannon on the NSC principles committee and later complained he was not fully briefed on the contents of the EO. In other words, no one read it to him.
I will continue to tweet he's illiterate.

Many people with dyslexia compensate in other ways by developing outstanding memory.
Frequently families think that the dyslexic child is stupid and it leaves emotional scars. it appears that Trump compensated with bluster and an absolute commitment to double down.
I, for one, would argue that an absolute commitment to double down is not the personality you want to have nuclear codes with.
