During the last eight years, the amount of mindless, heartbreakingly racist crap so cruelly thrown at the Obamas illustrates how our badly country has slipped-- and severely so-- on diversity and tolerance.

So grateful to have lived in a time where JFK made us great; MLK was our conscience; Robert Kennedy, Bob Dylan and Muhammad Ali were our voices; and finally, Barack and Michelle Obama were our first family and leaders.

I think history will look upon the Obama's in a special place. I also think that the Obamas will have more of a post-presidency closer to Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter than the Clintons. I was not of voting age during the Carter years, but he was mistreated not unlike the Obamas. I am not a Clinton hater or anything like that; just a special place in my heart for the Carters and the Obamas.

I'm so proud that we had them leading the way for eight years. They were so inspirational throughout. And they were insulted, obstructed, disrespected, and unappreciated. Yet they rose above it every time. What a great example they set!

And no matter how old they are, they'll still make a mighty cute couple!
