...that he wasn't briefed yet on the Flynn/Russian call and connection yet we find out now Yates informed him a month ago.
This needs to be put under a microscope.
Why did he lie?

(82,849 posts)Let President Trump answer for himself, if he can. A simple recitation of the facts and the timing, and ask the president why he claimed as recently as this past weekend that he didn't know a thing about Flynn's possible problems. Let him come up with his own excuse for feigning ignorance to the media.

(1,997 posts)Clearly he was lying in this instance. And given his track record for honesty, you'd think it would be even more obvious. Clearly, we are so divided in this country that they don't care. I don't know how we can recover from such division.

Nonsense. They are doing the best they can with the facts they have. They simply have come here from an alternative universe."

(2,895 posts)they don't care. It's all about 'winning'... and especially crushing the Democrats. They have zero principles and don't give a rat's ass about lies, corruption, etc. (ad nauseam), except when they want to project their own side's nefarious characteristics onto their 'enemy' targets. (Like Clinton.)

(34,074 posts)But the revelation that Yates told White House counsel a month ago doen't prove Trump was lying on Air Force One, as claimed in the OP. If McGahn told him, then he was lying. But that link has to be established to prove his weekend comments were a lie.

"Yesterday we learned that Acting Attorney General Sally Yates told the White House counsel late last month that she believed Flynn had misled senior administration officials about his Russian communications and was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail. As the Post notes, It is unclear what the White House counsel, Donald McGahn, did with the information. In the coming days it will be crucial to ask what McGahn did with this information, and when, and why."

The acting attorney general informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said.
The message, delivered by Sally Q. Yates and a senior career national security official to the White House counsel, was prompted by concerns that Flynn, when asked about his calls and texts with the Russian diplomat, had told Vice President-elect Mike Pence and others that he had not discussed the Obama administration sanctions on Russia for its interference in the 2016 election, the officials said. It is unclear what the White House counsel, Donald McGahn, did with the information.
Flynn resigned Monday night in the wake of revelations about his contacts with the Russian ambassador.
In the waning days of the Obama administration, James R. Clapper Jr., who was the director of national intelligence, and John Brennan, the CIA director at the time, shared Yatess concerns and concurred with her recommendation to inform the Trump White House. They feared that Flynn had put himself in a compromising position and thought that Pence had a right to know that he had been misled, according to one of the officials, who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

(11,996 posts)He asked "what report?" They responded about the WaPo report. He said he hadn't seen it.
Not going to be a lot there I think.
Obviously he knew about the issue - Yates had told them Jan 26 there was troubling information about the calls.
Likely trying to keep it hushed, at least until the WaPo report got legs and they had to act.
