disgusting - so much at stake..so much turmoil...and we have our very own military in the field...imagine how they feel...

(115,734 posts)It was complicated, with a lot of moving parts and a lot of conspiracies. But the essence of it was, of course, the effort of Nixon and his minions to cover up the connections between the DNC burglars and the White House. The current situation is starting to give off the same odors.

There's the diff between Repubs in Congress in 1974 and 2017.

Here, there is an obvious conspiracy how far it goes at this point is unknown but it is the cover up that is most dangerous to Trump. Luckily he's not as smart as he thinks he is and will screw it up.

(6,395 posts)What ultimately did Nixon in wasn't the bungled burglary that yielded no information....it was the cover up.
He could have came out on day one condemned it and take full responsibility for a political task force that went too far and against his permission....and that would have been it. Much like Reagan did during Iran-Contra.
But I have a feeling in this case, its not along the lines of a bungled burglary.
