Maybe the runways and taxiways should have distinguishing markings on them.

Like big yellow Xs on all the taxiways and white Vs on the runways.

Although, you might think that flying so close to the 737 would have made him question his approach.

and they looked pretty damn similar.

The runway was wider but I didn't see any obvious markings that were different.

Of course they only showed it for a few seconds and I am not a pilot so I could be wrong.

Too much at stake here. What if he collided with the other ship and people were hurt or killed. You have to know. It sounds like more than one error here as well, as is usually the case with these things. I love HF, but might be time to give it up.

Given that airline pilots have rigorous tests by the time they are 60, and you don't find any airline pilots at the age of 74. I suppose if you are flying out of small local airports with no carriers flying in, that would be ok.

Your last sentence.

I agree. He needs to park the planes. He is 74. He's not Han Solo anymore.

Nearly five months after Harrison Ford’s vintage plane went down shortly after taking off, a new report released by the National Transportation Safety Board is pointing to engine malfunction as the cause of the crash landing.

Ford also told investigators that he had no memory of the crash-landing that left him critically injured.

In the findings, the NTSB concluded that the main metering jet for the plane’s carburetor had come loose, resulting in excessive fuel flow and the ultimate loss of engine power.

Ford reported engine loss and requested an immediate return only minutes after taking off from the Santa Monica Airport on March 5. The 73-year-old Star Wars actor crash-landed his Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR – a restored World War II-era trainer – on a golf course near the airport.

The report also points to an improperly installed shoulder harness as a likely contributor to the severity of his injuries.

I just heard tonight it had gone down due to engine malfunction, not knowing what exactly happened. Wonder why the the metering jet came loose.
