4. I don't think it will work

because they don't see it as weakness, they see it as strength. "He's fighting back!". They love all the whining and crying about bias and persecution against Republicans, Conservatives, Christians, etc. They tune in and listen to it on teevee and radio for hours a day. They want their leaders to whine and cry about the media.
