Reading and thinking about this Orange Clown Emperor with no cloths has left me realizing that I need a break. I am going to take 7 days of no DU no NEWS and avoid all things "Trump".
I will see you fine souls when I come back next Monday. I honestly wonder if I will actually succeed as the stuff is getting so weird so fast that the news may become overwhelming. If so I guess I'll break my fast but if not, I'm going to take a break and hope to be more ready to deal with the more serious phase obviously coming soon.
Cheers Everyone!
PS. I am not starting my news fast until Monday AM so I'll be posting here for a few more hours. Seems like the shit is getting even more real, even by the hour.

(90,775 posts)You can do a photo essay of things not Trump when you get back. Again, because I like photos.

Enjoy your week away!

A lot of interesting/informative things are lost due to the Trump of it all.

(111,292 posts)I find it completely unwatchable now, especially the stuff on cable. Everything is a crisis, reported breathlessly, while they all shamelessly lie by omission. Fuck 'em.
When DU was down for 2 weeks thanks to the eastern European hacking, I discovered all sorts of movies over at You Tube. I found that British comedies and disaster movies were my best bets, the latter because they were all told by survivors.
For news, I read the BBC and the WaPo (Amazon had a deal) and occasionally the foreign press linked over at Newseum to get different perspectives. Mexican coverage of El Pendejo has been hilarious but you need to be able to read Spanish.
There is a whole world outside broadcast and cable channel news. Once you discover it, you'll never go back to the bastards and your blood pressure will go down.

(9,313 posts)Limiting 'tuning in" to a couple days at a time is the only way I keep my sanity. And when tuned in i try to do one concrete thing. Letter to editor, fax to Senator... something. It may not be much, but actually doing some little thing helps with the sense of shell-shock.
