Scammers in New York are posing as ICE agents to rip off people afraid of deportation

Con artists and scammers have apparently seized on the recent, high-profile deportations of immigrants in the US in order to rip off people afraid of being detained and removed from the country.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman issued an urgent fraud alert on Thursday, warning immigrant communities in the state about reports of fraudsters impersonating Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to intimidate immigrants and demand money.

“It is unconscionable for scam artists to prey on heightened fear in our immigrant communities by pretending to be ICE officers and demanding that families pay up in order to avoid deportation,” Schneiderman said in a statement.

"I urge communities to protect themselves by learning about these potential scams – and contacting my office if they suspect fraud. We will continue to use all of the tools at our disposal and bring to justice those who commit fraud against our immigrant communities."

Obama used prosecutorial discretion and used deferred action for the Dream category. These were undocumented aliens. If the person is here illegally they can be deported - you act as if there is something wrong with that. And Donald of Orange is certainly going to do a lot more - he is hiring more agents.

They are US citizens. Putting them in foster care is far more costly than letting their parents stay and continue working the minimum wage jobs they generally work.

and would have to be changed so those persons could legalize. Yet President Obama did use prosecutorial discretion and did not go after people who had children here but were undocumented, so families stayed together. Donald will deport those individuals also, so the removed post was quite unfair as if Obama were worse than Orange Toxin.

which has been the policy for 25 years or more, so Orange Toxin is changing nothing and the Deplorables should be quite upset at him for not keeping his promise to them!
