So, is the British Parliament vote on the trump* visit unpresidented? (snicker)

Seriously, though, has this ever happened, before? (I just couldn't resist the whole 'unpresidented' thing. I figure someone was bound to do it. Maybe they already have, and I missed it. Anyway, please forgive me.)

I think they actually voted. But the PM and/or Queen can veto the vote Siwsan Feb 2017 #2

But either way - to me it is absolutely mind blowing that it has even gone this far! 1.8 million signatures on the petition to not allow the state visit? Pretty impressive.

Despite numerous stories going round, there was no vote on whether Trump should visit or not - such a vote was never on the cards as these were just two public petitions that got enough signatures that they should be debated, not laws or any decisions.

There was a vote at the end to decide whether the two public petitions being debated had been debated in full.

The cries of "No!" at that point (which confused many, not least because they were quite loud) were from MPs who either didn't think enough time had been spent on proceedings or just felt like shouting "No!" at that point.

Thanks for the info. No matter what, IF he decides to go, I predict the whole visit will be an unending nightmare. The British LOVE to gather in huge crowds to protest, and they do have a reputation of dealing harshly with incompetent, self serving "rulers".

I'm trying to imagine Prince Philip and Prince Charles having to talk to trump* on any topic. Neither of them suffers fools lightly - especially Prince Philip.

I hope it's captured on video. That would be awesome. Most likely will be some comment about his hair.

Phillip has zero shits to give and probably looks down on Drumpf anyway. New money, etc.

Not that it has ever really been overly effective! I hope trump* is completely blind sided by what I fully expect awaits him.

We've got quite enough to be disgruntled about in the UK at the moment. A nice spot of cathartic demonstrating against a cartoon Bond villain out in the fresh air could be just what the national mood needs!

My favorite memory is hearing the news broadcast where they talked about the 'well organized group of anarchists' involved in the riot. I actually still have a protest sign that I found, the next day.

I'm counting on my British cousins to show trump* an 'interesting' and 'action filled' time.
